I brought my daughter to AB to get a contact lense exam and contacts, thinking this was a same day service. Only to find that my daughter had to have a class to show her how to use them.

We her parents both use contacts and don't feel the need for a stranger to have to show her, when we can at home.

It's like saying a nurse has to show a girl how to put a tampon in before she can use them, ridiculous. If you feel the need to see her put her contacts in, then make it part of the exam and not a class you have to schedule and come back for.

I just went through this, only the doctor said nothing about a class. She told us to go out front to try on the lenses.

After we sit down, the other girl states, "The doctor wants her to attend a contact class." Of course it's an hour long and you can't do it that day. They scheduled us to come in and then when we got there and waited half an hour, they said, "I'm sorry we don't have the staff to do the class today." What a joke. My daugher has tried on and worn other lenses but they weren't comfortable, so she wouldn't wear them all day (and her regular eye doctor for some odd reason wouldn't let her try mid/high water content lenses, so I paid out of pocket for this exam.

She is able to even put them in and take them out, but no, she needs a class. I'm just sitting there wondering, "What are you going to teach her that will take a freaking' hour?!" They even had the contacts in stock but wouldn't let her try them on.

I understand your concern . I also ordered for my daughter and it took a week for the trials to come in , we are on vacation for the next 3 weeks and I called tonschedule an appt for the class that is 99 minutes ..

nothing available for the week I'm home .. so we are 2 weeks already into ordering and without the 90 min class , another 3 weeks away ..

I also have contacts , I'm a nurse , and would love her to attend the class but if u can't fit her in .. I'm 6 weeks away to even seeing if the trials will work for her ..

What? They had yours scheduled at 99 minutes?!!

Ridiculous. Talk about wasting people's time.

Uh, cause they are responsible if she does anything wrong cause over-using your contacts can cause you to be blind. That is why. And the class is FREE nitwit.

you must be one of the rude employees of AB that we keep hearing about. It was stated in another comment that you all must be a bunch of embreds. Is that true ?

Legally it's required to show new contact lens wearers how to put them in and take them out before you can leave the store with them... You're seriously pissed off because someone more qualified to teach your daughter how to take care of the contacts is showing her, for free?

I know this response is years late, but do you honestly think it takes an hour long class to do this? Do you not wear contacts? It doesn't require a separate "class." It can be completed in 15 minutes.

Did it take you an hour to put in your lenses and learn how to rub them and put them in a case with solution? Lol!

Name me one other company that makes you come in for a separate 1 hour "class" to learn how to put in your lenses and learn how to clean them. Most adept vision practitioners can show you how to do that in 10-15 minutes.
